Memorial Symposium for the Establishment of Hirodai Shirakami Radar System Held

The Shirakami Institute for Environmental Science and the Cold Regions Meteorology Laboratory, Graduate School of Science and Technology held a symposium at Hakkoda Hall of the 60th Anniversary Auditorium, Collabo HiroDai, on Sep. 27 and Sep. 28 to commemorate the installation of an X-band Doppler weather radar system. While there are some similar defense-related systems, this new addition, called “Hirodai Shirakami,” is the first system in Aomori devoted solely to weather.
