Undergraduate Degree Students

Application Requirements

Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than Japan and must take the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students(EJU). They must also satisfy one of the following requirements:

  • Completion of twelve years of education by the end of March of the year of admission or the equivalent as recognized by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
  • Possesstion of International Baccalaureate Diploma and Possession of Abitur Diploma and being at least eighteen years of age.

Applicants are required to take the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students(EJU) administered by the Association of International Education, Japan(AIEJ) in the year preceding the application. For more details about the test, contact:

Application Procedures

Application Procedures for self-financed students are as follows.

  • Application deadline is in late January.
  • Examination dates, examination subjects, and method of examination vary according to the Faculty and academic year. Applicants are therefore advised to obtain details from the Admission Division of the Faculty concerned on or after November 1.
  • Admission bulletins are available in November and will be sent upon request.
    Individuals requesting admission bulletins by mail are requested to provide a self-addressed envelope (H27.5cm W21.5cm) with 160yen of return postage stamp affixed (for overseas applicants: International Reply Coupon for 100g). You should address your:

Graduate Students

  1. Master's degree course
  2. Application Requirements

    Applicants must be a citizen of a nation other than Japan and satisfy one of the following requirements.

    1. University graduation by the end of March in the year of application
    2. Completion of 16 years of education by the end of March in the year of application
    3. Special Recognition by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    4. Recognition by the Graduate School that the applicant possesses the equivalent of a university undergraduate degree
    Application Procedures

    Application dates, examination date, entrance examination subjects and method of examination vary according to the Graduate School and academic year. Applicants are, therefore, advised to obtain details from the Graduate School concerned.

  3. Doctoral Course (United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences)
  4. Application Requirements
    Applicants must be a citizen of a nation other than Japan and satisfy one of the following requirements.
    1. A master 's degree by the end of March in the year of application
    2. Completion of 16 years of education overseas by the end of March in the year of application
    3. Recognition by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    4. Recognition by the Graduate School that the applicant possesses an academic background equivalent to master's degree
    5. *Application Procedures
      Application dates, examination date, entrance examination subjects and method of examination vary according to the academic year. Applicants are, therefore, advised to obtain details from the United Graduate School of Agriculture.

  5. Doctoral Course (Medicine)
  6. Application Requirements
    Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than Japan and satisfy one of the following requirements.
    1. i Graduation from a medical or dental undergraduate
    2. course by the end of March in the year of application
    3. Completion of 18 years of education overseas (the last course should be a medical or dental course) by the end of March in the year of application
    4. Special Recognition by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    5. Recognition by the Graduate School that the applicant possesses the equivalent of a medical and dental undergraduate degree

    Application dates, examination date, entrance examination subjects and method of examination vary according to the academic year. Applicants are, therefore, advised to obtain details from the Graduate School of Medicine.

  7. Doctoral Course (Regional Studies)
    1. A master's degree by the end of March in the year of application
    2. Completion of 16 years of education overseas by the end of March in the year of application
    3. Special Recognition by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    4. Recognition by the Graduate School of Regional Studies, after individual screening, that the applicant possesses the equivalent academic background to a master degree. The applicant needs to be 24 years old or older by the end of March in the year of application
    5. Applicants who do not satisfy any of the above requirements but have been recognized by the Graduate School of Regional Studies as possessing an equivalent academic background to a master's degree.
