The 4th Special Lecture for The Center of Innovation (COI) Held at Hirosaki University

On Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the Auditorium for Foundation Lectures, Graduate School of Medicine, Hirosaki University, Mr. Tomohisa Ikeura, Project Leader, The University of Tokyo COI site (Mitsubisi Chemical Holdings Corporation) and Ms. Chisato Nojiri, MD, Ph.D, Development Leader, The Unversity of Tokyo site (TERUMO CORPORATION) were invited to hold a special lecture, the theme of which was “The University of Tokyo COI strategy ~ Sustainable Life Care, Ageless Sciety.” It was the third lecture in this series.

First, the project leader, Mr. Ikeura, shared information about the management structure at the Unversity of Tokyo COI site and spoke about the “Self-Management Healthcare,” which has been established as part of their vision. Next, the development leader, Ms. Nojiri, talked about the history of the artificial heart for chronic heart failure, the current status of the medical device industry, and future growth strategies.

In the future, our university plans to develop COI programs and to strengthen further its connections with all the existing COI sites, through collaborations, including the “Health Longevity Loop” (health enhancement/super-early diagnosis and prevention at home, speedy diagnosis at outpatient clinics, day surgery/intervention at hospotals, postoperative management/aftercare at home) promoted by the University of Tokyo COI site.
