COI Innovation Summit Held by Hirosaki University in Hirosaki

Innovation Summit was held at Hotel Naqua City Hirosaki on Friday, January 30, 2015. The summit was organized by Hirosaki University under the auspices of local governments of Aomori Prefecture, Hirosaki City, and Aomori Medical Association, to expand the result on research; Development of an Innovative strategy for disease prediction and prevention by combining neuroscience research and analysis of “Big Health Date”, which was selected as the Center of Innovation Science and Technology based Radical Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (COI STREAM) in November 2013.

The project team has analyzed “Big Health Date”, collected in Iwaki district, Hirosaki as a cohort study, and developed an innovative prediction method. Contributing to society, NAKAJI Shigeyuki, COI Research Leader, Dean of Graduate School of Medicine, Hirosaki University introduced specifically the goal to establish an innovative strategy for predicting brain diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and to develop the software to support human health.
In addition, “the Center of Health Aging” was established at Aomori Medical Association in July 2014, to foster inspectors to guide the healthy life in cooperation with Aomori local governments, the communities, and companies.

SATO Kei, the President of Hirosaki University, KOMIYAMA Hiroshi, the COI STREAM Governing Committee and President Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, KAWAKAMI Jun, President and CEO of GE Healthcare Japan attended and actively shared various opinions during the summit.
