Undergraduate Student

In order to enter Degree programs, students have to take and pass the entrance examinations and an interview conducted by Hirosaki University.

Applicants are required to take “the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)” administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) in the year preceding the application.

Since most undergraduate classes are taught in Japanese, advanced level of Japanese language skill is required in order to be enrolled as undergraduate students. Many degree-seeking international undergraduate students first study Japanese courses at private language schools before entering Hirosaki University.

Graduate Student

In order to enter Degree programs, students have to take and pass the entrance examinations and an interview conducted by Hirosaki University.

Graduate Schools either do or do not require students to find the academic supervisor prior to applying for Graduate School, but it is always better to decide the faculty member by whom you wish to be supervised, considering your own research topic. Check the information about the faculty members at Master’s Programs and Doctoral Programs and contact the faculty member directly.

Research Student

Students who wish to conduct specific research on non-credit basis may enter Hirosaki University as research students by obtaining an approval from each faculty or graduate school. Students must obtain an approval in advance from their prospective Supervisor.

Short-Term program(Exchange Program)

Aomori prefecture is located in the north of Honshu and Hirosaki city is called “Jokamachi” where maintains not only modern, but also traditional atmosphere. Also, there are the historical castle and sites surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees. It is very popular and many tourists visit Hirosaki Cherry blossom festival for every spring.

In the summer, we have Hirosaki Neputa festival which is one of the biggest festival in Aomori. In the winter, it snows a lot, so you can enjoy winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding and etc….

Aomori has a magnificent nature in four seasons, you’ll see how different and great it is if you join to this program in Hirosaki University! Moreover you will learn Japanese language and culture through a community and daily life in Hirosaki!
