The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences promotes the simultaneous pursuit of academic specialization and diversity.
Although the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of three separate courses that, in spite of having different goals, all aim to help students develop an ability to take creative and innovative approaches to the problems they will face in an increasingly complex and diverse world that have been brought on by globalization and the information revolution. The Faculty therefore provides not only a specialized education in different areas of the humanities and social sciences, but also encourages its undergraduates to approach their studies from a multi-disciplinary point of view.

Faculty of Education

A new teacher training program for a new age
The Faculty of Education has three divisions−the Teacher Training Division, the School Nurse Teacher Training Division, and the Community
Education Training Division. In order to give the students the best possible training as teachers and specialists, educational research is carried out
in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, art, physical education, and pedagogy. The attached Center for Educational Research and
Practice, Center for Teacher Education Research and Development, Kindergarten, Elementary School, Junior High School, and School for
Special Needs Education, and allow faculty members to test their findings and give the students an opportunity to experience teaching.

Hirosaki University School of Medicine sets up its “objective and purpose” as follows:

Fostering of the health professions with advanced healthcare technology and well-rounded humanity
The School of Health Sciences is one of Japanese leading providers of health science education and comprises five departments. Through its predecessor (School of Allied Medical Sciences), it has had a long and distinguished history in the education of health professionals. The School is located at the Honcho campuses and approximately 800 students are enrolled in the school. The mission of the School of Health Sciences is to provide high quality and relevant education for the health professions conducting research to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of individuals developing efficiency of health highly.

Faculty of Agriculture and Life Science

Focusing on both experiments and practical trainings in the fields of biology, agriculture, economics and system engineering.
The Faculty of Agriculture and Life Science consists of the following five departments. The Department of Biology is designed to enable students to understand the mechanism of the life and to study the management and preservation of the natural environment. The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology researches and applies the principal of the life to develop new biotechnology. The Department of Applied Biosciences provides students with a basic background necessary to ensure food and agricultural systems in relationship to human health. The
Department of Agriculture and Horticulture aims to create production methods of garden products and basic food which harmonizes with the natural environment, and promotes the well being of the social economy system. The Department of Agricultural & Environmental Engineering creates a rich and comfortable environment for agricultural production and rural life. Each department offers two educational courses. The Faculty of Agriculture and Life Science has two teaching and research farms, in which students can gain practical experience in the fruit,vegetable, crop and animal production to acquire the foundations in the field of agriculture and life science.
